Updated wrapping area

With the Holiday Seasons fast approaching I thought it would be a good idea to update my wrapping area so it is ready to go!  Awhile ago I redid a corner in my workspace area to set up a wrapping center. Here is the  wrapping center I came up with a couple months ago, click here to see how it came together.
Now that I have been using it, there are somethings that I need to update to make the space work better. The gift bag organizer is great, but I have all my tissue paper and cards on the other side. So I have found that I have to pick up the whole thing and flip it over to get the tissue paper out- see that door and all that unused space?

It was pretty much begging me to use it!!

At Target there were a few supplies that gave me an idea about what I could do. Some command hooks and these poly envelopes that were $1.50

I sorted my tissue paper into 4 color categories- Blue/Green, White/Black, Red/Pink & Patterns. Then I attached the hooks to the back so that they would fit in the slats on the empty door.

Even though I have a ribbon holder on the wall. I was finding that I still had  lots of loose ribbon.

A must-do at Target is browsing their dollar section- I have found some amazing items there and this was no exception!  These cute little containers were only $1 each, I also grabbed some S hooks.

Here are the poly envelopes. With those command hooks they just slid right onto the slots.

The S Hooks slid right on as well, then I put the cute little containers filled with ribbon on the hook.

This is the door all finished! Doesn't it look so fun!  But more importantly it will make gift wrapping a snap!

What do you think? Now all I need to do is go by some Holiday wrapping paper!!

Fast Project Friday- a docking station!

Happy Friday to you!!  I have been wanting to have a docking station for my kiddos electronics for a while now. So I decided it would be the perfect Fast Project Friday to do this week!!  I needed a few supplies for this one-
Command hanging strips

Power Strip

We had received this as a gift, I had not really put it to use yet, but thought it would work perfectly
for this project. I just labeled each spot for each of my kids Ipod & DS

On the power strip I adhered the Command hanging strip

Then put the other on on the inside of the docking station, then I plugged in the chargers
& pulled the cords through to the other side

Then I put their electronic devices on
Since there was a drawer on the front, I decided it would be a good place
to keep earbuds & extra styluses- since those always seem to get lost at our house :)

So there you have it. Nice & easy!  I decided to keep this docking station in the kids
play area- or what we call the "Kids Cave" that way it is in a central location. Again
I am trying to give every item a "home".

Another Fast Project Friday done!  What do you find the best way to keep all the kids electronics together in your household? I will let you know if this system works for us. Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks again for stopping by my blog!!

What's under the kitchen sink?

Hello!!  I feel like it has been forever since I have blogged!  Well- I have had quite the adventure over the last week!  First of all my husband and I traveled to the Twin Cities Area and on Saturday did the Tough Mudder which is a 12 mile 29 obstacle course, we stayed for a few days and helped out their local economy :) with some visits to some amazing restaurants, Ikea & The Container Store! I now have many projects in the works with the goodies that found while away!  The first project I tackled when I got back is under our kitchen sink!

Here we are before the Tough Mudder

IKEA!!!

Ok now back to reality- under my kitchen sink- it really needed some help!  First of all the old crusty shelving paper is gross and everything is just jammed in there with no rhyme or reason. On the left is actually where our recycling used to go in paper grocery bags.

Here is the finished project!

I scrubbed really well under there & put down shelf paper left over from my desk drawer project. Then my husband installed this handy  pull out drawer we got from The Container Store.

I hung this tension curtain rod to hang any spray bottles on so they are up & out of the way!

Next I hung some command hooks for my scrubbers...

Remember how I said my recycling used to go on the left under my sink... Well we found another
pull-out drawer at The Container Store and put it in a drawer next to our garbage can.

For our recycling company we use we only separate the paper & everything else can go together. So we are using the blue bin for paper & the black bin for everything else!

So I can check that off the list!!  I would love to hear from you about ways that you organize under your sink. It is another one of those places that is easy to just shove stuff into!  But again, once everything has a spot, it makes it much easier to maintain!  I can't tell you how excited I am about my upcoming projects- I could just do cartwheels!! Remember to check back tomorrow for Fast Project Friday!!! Thanks so much for stopping by :)
