A Pirate themed birthday party!!

When my son turned 8 we had a pirate party for him. It was really fun so I wanted to blog about what we did incase someone else might find it fun too!

First I ordered invitations like this-  these ones are from www.birthdayinabox.com & they are just a sample- not our actual invites. I had so many people comment how fun it was to get these in the mail!
Pirate Invitation in a Bottle

The day of the party I put up a pirate banner and a beware of pirates sign

Then I put together the pirate food...

Next was the pirate menu-The Yo Ho Ho Chicken were chicken fingers, Goldfish were obviously goldfish, Shark Blood- Hawaiian punch

Pirate Swords- kabobs with pineapple, grape large marshmallows & strawberries

Pirate Peg Legs- carrot sticks, Ahoy Matey Fish Sticks, Shrimp "Me Harteys"

I had a very happy little Pirate Birthday Boy!!!

 I found some fun balloons

And made Pirate cupcakes!

For a fun pirate game I made up a treasure map of our house and backyard and made up 8 clues. Each clue gave them the clue to the next spot where another clue was waiting. The last clue led them to a treasure chest with all the goodie bags.

It was a super fun party & my son and his friends had a fun time! It's hard to believe that it has been 2 years since that party. My how time flies!!

Have you done a theme party that turned out really fun? Thanks again for stopping by today!!

Spring break & Mini fruit pizzas

I hope everyone is having a fun spring break!! We have spent the week learning how to ski!! I will say we are hooked- I think there will be more skiing in our future!!

Ok- enough about that... Here is my real issue-I have discovered that I am addicted to Pintrest. There are so many things that I have found that I absolutely love and want to try, so when I complete an idea I have done on Pintrest, I am going to blog about it!!

One of the ideas I saw for a party was mini fruit pizzas. I decided this would be a fun thing to do instead of a birthday cake. We celebrated my mom's birthday last weekend so I gave it a try!!

It turned out great!! I used refrigerated sugar cookie dough and just sliced it & baked according to the package directions.

Cream cheese frosting: I mixed together- 8 oz package of cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla with an electric mixer until fluffy

I had blueberries, raspberries, sliced strawberries & kiwi. I put it all in a container that I got from Tupperware a long time ago. But any dish with dividers would work!

Everyone spread their own frosting & put their own toppings on! I then put a birthday candle on my mom's cookie!!

Does everyone else just love Pintrest? Any ideas that you have done that really work well, any ideas you would like to see me try? Hope you all enjoy the weekend and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
