Our new Lounge- revealed!!

Well, I am super excited to reveal a room that we have been working on!  There is a room in our house that we have always called "the fireplace room" since is the only room in our house that has a fireplace. Pretty creative- huh! Now we have a new name for it, we call it... the lounge.

The first thing that we did in here, was to paint the walls and the trim, that alone made a huge difference  but that was just a start! This room is long and narrow, so the seating had to be very specific for the space. When we moved in, we tried different seating arrangements and tried to make seating that we already had work. Finally we realized that we needed to purchase something that would fit. We looked lots of places measured all the options that we liked. Then we came home and using masking tape, we taped out the measurements of the couches we liked on the floor. Then we were really able to see exactly what the couch would look like in the space.

Paint completely transformed the fireplace area! Painting is one of the easiest and affordable ways to update!

These arm less chairs provide some extra seating, without taking up too much room. The ottoman also can be used as seating, pulled over the couch to "put your feet up", and it's also a great storage piece.

Surprise! It's where we store all our board games. They stay tucked away until ready to use!

Over on the other side of the room, we have turned it into a bar/buffet area.

This wine glass storage area was a super easy DIY project!  With the track and the brackets securely screwed into the wall, the trays sit nicely on top of them. The trays work well for storing the wine glasses, but are ready to use as serving trays when needed!

Across from the bar/buffet area is a table and chair seating area. This wine bottle chandelier brings a unique lighting choice for the area. As you can see the area works really well for doing a puzzle :)

Here is the other side of the room Before and After! The other big thing we did in this room was to change the flooring. There was old blue carpet throughout the room. We picked out several different floor samples and brought them home before we chose what we wanted. Along with the carpet that we chose that went on  most of the floor, we also chose cork flooring for the area closest to the sliding glass door.

This is now a room that we use every day!  By using different seating options, it is able to fit many people. Our lounge has come together over the last year. It wasn't overnight or even over a weekend. We took our time and made choices based on our specific needs and wants for the room. Which is why I think it is working out so well for us!

Any rooms that you have redone that have just made a huge difference in your home? Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and hope to see you back soon!
